Was very surprised when I went to Grandpa's Cafe today and found that only Polish Library Association members can shop there or eat at the Cafe. It seems you are really restricting your business. What were the reasons for this move? Is membership in the Polish Library Association restricted to people of Polish descent? Is this an attempt to keep out certain races or groups of people? Was there trouble of any kind caused by non-Poles? I'm very curious about your reasons, since I'm Polish-American and interested in preserving my heritage, but married to a Chinese-American and wondering how welcome he might be at any Polish Library Association-sponsored events.

Jestem Amerykaninem. 30 lat temu pracowalem w Berlinie miedzy Polakami. Moj charakter jest dobry. Urodzilem sie w stanie Oregon. Chcialbym znalezc ludzie ktorzy mowi po polsku. Moj rodowod jest tylko Wielkie Brytanie i Amerykanski. Pomagalem ludziom zanim do Stanow Zjednoczonych przyjechali. Tutaj w Salem, nie moge znalezc ludzie zeby pomagac mi sie uczyc jezyka polskiego lepiej. Chcialbym odwiedzic twoj klub czasami i poslucham innych polakow zeby mowic jezyka polskiego. Mam dobrego przyjaciela ktorzy mieszkac w Swiebodzicach. Rozumiem, gdy powiedziesz nie. Ja staram sie zatelefonowac jednak ktos nie byl tam. Mam dobre opowiadania o Berlinem.

Because the cafe is a part of the Polish Library Building, we can only serve members of the Polish Library Building Association and their guests. Fortunately, becoming a member is quick, inexpensive, and it comes with huge rewards. There are several membership levels ranging from Full Membership to Friend of the Library. But if you can't decide which one you'd like, you can always get a one day membership for $1. Applications are available at the Cafe.
